VIJAY PRABHAT KAMALAKARA
Founder and Managing Director

Vijay went to a B-School, worked in the Banking and IT industries, and now tells stories for a living. He loves puns, history, stage, sarcasm, trivia, and words in general and is grateful that his work surrounds him with people who obsess about these even more. Vijay is the founder and Managing Director of Storytrails. He is happiest when facing an audience, or a plate of food, especially after a long run. A regular guest speaker at various social forums and educational institutions, Vijay is the recipient of the ‘Young creative entrepreneur award’ from the British Council and the ‘Youth achiever award for innovative entrepreneurship’ from Yuva Shakti.

ANURADHA P
MIS & Accounting

Anu crunches numbers. She will happily take any opportunity to pore over columns of data, patiently connecting the dots to help the lay ones among us see the story in those numbers. By qualification she is a computer science engineer and has an MBA to boot. Her past work includes stints in business development, recruitment and MIS related roles. At Storytrails, she manages MIS and accounts functions.

KAUSHIK S V
Senior Research Associate & Storyteller

Kaushik has held many CXO positions in a large corporate group, before retiring and joining Storytrails in 2015. His MBA from XLRI had not prepared him for retirement, but now that he has time, he has revived an old romance – History. He is a Senior Research Associate and Storyteller. He believes corporate presentations and walking tours have a couple of things in common: Passion and Preparation. Kaushik is an active blogger and has more stories to tell in his posts. And when he tires of telling stories, he switches to music. His taste in music is totally eclectic, and ranges from western classical to Turkish

LAKSHMI SHANKAR
Head Operations

Lakshmi has a degree in commerce and a diploma in Montessori education from the Indian Institute of Montessori Studies, Bangalore. She worked in advertising as a copywriter, as a storyteller with the British Council and as a kindergarten teacher at one of Chennai’s leading schools. She is passionate about storytelling and joined the team in 2007. Lakshmi devours books, enjoys cross fit training, plays tennis, enjoys Bollywood dancing, and often play-acts in front of the mirror. In between all this, she manages to find time to head Operations at Storytrails.

AKILA RAMAN
Storyteller, A Senior Research Associate & Head Of Training

A postgraduate in History and a collector of assorted historical and mythological stories and trivia, Akila has over fifteen years of teaching under her belt. She has also been a Language Trainer in the ITES industry for a short stint. Akila has a beautiful way with words, reads like she is possessed, loves telling stories and is happiest when meeting new people. Her work at Storytrails gives her legitimate reason to engage all of these interests and she hasn’t looked back since 2008, when she joined the team. At Storytrails, she is a storyteller, a senior research associate and head of training.

Shobana Ramanujam
Storyteller

Shobana is an Engineer with a Master’s in Business Analytics and Management Sciences. She has over 6 years of experience in the IT industry and volunteered as an English and Mathematics teacher at a few social organisations. Shobana loves reading and her other interests include theatre, drama, calligraphy, baking, painting. She joined Storytrails as a storyteller in Chennai in 2019.

Lavanya Rajagopalan
Revenue & Content strategy

Lavanya has been a banker and an entrepreneur. A fan of trying on new hats, she enjoys reading, music and loves exploring different cultures. Although she believes there are no new stories to be told, she loves discovering the old and forgotten stories. She is always up for new experiences and believes in trying new things at least once.

Pallak Dugar
Campaigns & Promotions

A visual communication graduate, Pallak is happiest in the midst of art, may it be dancing, sketching or reading! At Storytrails, Pallak manages digital campaigns and promotions. Her love for design and social media lends itself perfectly for the role. An enthusiastic learner, she is always up for new challenges, both at work and otherwise.

Jayshree Menon
Senior Writer & Editor

Jayashree has worked as a reporter and an editor for various Indian newspapers. She was a freelance writer/ editor for many leading publishing houses for over ten years. Besides editing, she has adapted historical and mythological material into comics and other forms for children. A cat person at heart, Jayashree is passionate about animal rights and feels at home with animals more than humans. When she isn’t working, she loves to read, crochet and paint. Jayashree has a PG diploma in Print and Web Journalism, and MA and BA in English Literature.

Divya Subramaniam
Senior Writer & Editor

A bibliophile who loves listening to and telling stories and a former journalist and teacher, Divya has worked as a Correspondent, Sr. Features Writer and Senior Sub-Editor at various news publications such as Forbes India, Business Standard, DNA and Mid-Day. She has also worked as a teacher of communications  at VJTI, Mumbai. She enjoys playing with words and crafting and sculpting a tale. She is happiest strolling along the old areas of Bombay, eating a vada pav and listening to the astonishing stories of how the city grows and thrives through its people. History has been a lifelong passion for her and she thinks that the best photographs are those of sunlight falling on the remnants of any ancient civilization. Divya has a PG diploma in Social Communications and Media, and a master’s degree in English Literature.

Sanjana Srinivasan
Senior Writer & Editor

An art writer, curator and educator, Sanjana has a master’s degree in Art Writing and Criticism from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City. She has previously worked at galleries and museums in Chennai and Mumbai and is currently based in the UK. Her writings have appeared in platforms such as ART India, Degree Critical, Arts Illustrated and The Hindu MetroPlus. 

Neeti Sehgal
Senior Writer

Neeti is based in Kolkata. With an Honours Degree in History and a PG Diploma in Social Communications, she spent the early years of her career running an Art Gallery in the city. She joined South Point School in 1994 as a Teacher and has recently retired as Coordinator. She has a deep interest in matters and stories relating to History and Art and has experience in writing for publications of the Gallery as well as for the School she was associated with.

Asha Vakkattil
Research Associate & Writer

After almost a decade of working with the computers and trying to make sense of the bits and bytes, Asha has recently switched to the creative world of words and stories. She has a degree in Computer Science and Engineering. Asha loves books, biriyani, tea and traveling in that order. She speaks fluent sarcasm and strongly believes that GIFs and memes make the world a better place!
